Do We Have A Christian Choice?
As we approach the upcoming elections in November, we ask you to take a few moments to reflect on how you come to the decisions of choice in candidacy. As a Christian it is necessary to mindfully consider the importance of each individual office and the persons being considered for the positions to be held. For as Christians we believe God involves himself in the affairs of men and blesses nations and peoples, as their leaders are subject to his commandments.
We are so fortunate in America to have the "blessing" of choice in leadership and we must be diligent in our selection process with the goal in mind to keep the integrity of our country "Under God" through out all time and circumstance beginning with the very smallest office in our small towns up to and including the very office of the President. Each is equally important as they all combine to make up the whole.
Chief Justice of the Supreme Court John Jay once said "It is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers". Noah Webster once wrote "When a citizen gives his suffrage (vote) to a man of known immorality, he abuses this trust (civil responsibility)...He sacrifices not only his own interests, but that of his neighbor. He betrays the interest of this country".
In selecting men for office it is suggested you let principle be your guide. Look to the Character of the individual. It is alleged by men of loose principles, or defective views of the subject, that religion and morality are not necessary or important qualifications for public station. "Religion, morality, and knowledge are necessary to good government, the preservation of liberty, and the happiness of mankind". (Church of the Holy Trinity v U.S. 1892).
Exodus 18:21 tells us "Choose ye out from among you able men, such as fear God, men of truth and hating covetousness and set them to rule over you".
In 2002 there are many issues that are of great concern to Christians that need to be confronted as we consider a candidate for any office as we take the welfare of our children to heart.
We urge you to contact each and every candidate and question their views to see if they are Godly men or women seeking to have the rule over you which can and will affect the way we are allowed to live in America in the years to come.
We have been a nation Under God and blessed by God for centuries, and we stand on a brink of destruction, confronted with all our Christian values being trampled moment by moment, with rampant abortions, embraced adultery, open homosexuality, accepted witchcraft, and so on, and so on, and so on.
To quote a friend..."The power of this nation lies within its people". Christians, we have been silent far too long. We are responsible. Let us take our responsibility to heart.
We would like to list all the candidates running this year, however, it is a very large list and The Master's Table is a very small paper. We apologize for the inconvenience, but you can go to www.sos.state.tx.us and get an entire listing with addresses. If you do not have a computer you may contact:
